Apply for Education

Apply for CPE or CPE Supervisory Education

Begin your application through a CPEI-approved Affiliate Organization. Choose the program and affiliate that fit your educational goals, then use the application link provided in the Affiliate Directory.

Application Process

How Applications Work

CPEI’s Clinical Pastoral Education and CPE Supervisory Education programs are delivered through approved Affiliate Organizations and CPEI Faculty. Applicants begin by choosing an affiliate and submitting the appropriate CPEI application through that affiliate.

The Affiliate Organization is the applicant’s primary point of contact for the local program, faculty relationship, interview, schedule and learning environment. CPEI provides the institutional framework and centralized administration, including formal enrollment, student records, billing and other academic processes.

Choose Your Program

Which educational pathway are you seeking?

Review the two CPEI certificate pathways before choosing an Affiliate Organization and beginning an application.

Clinical Pastoral Education

CPE 100–400

Clinical Pastoral Education is experiential education for people seeking formation in spiritual care, reflective practice, self-awareness and compassionate service.

Applicants should choose an approved Affiliate Organization offering CPE and use the CPE application link associated with that affiliate.

CPE Supervisory Education

SEC 600–900

CPE Supervisory Education is advanced education for qualified chaplains and spiritual care professionals preparing for pastoral supervision, teaching and educational leadership.

Not every Affiliate Organization offers SEC. Applicants should review the program requirements and choose an affiliate with an available Supervisory Education pathway.

  • Not every Affiliate Organization offers CPE Supervisory Education.
