Biographical Info
Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) is located in Rockville, Maryland. Our in-person CPE program focuses on long-term care, hospice and palliative care, bereavement, and community-based geriatric chaplaincy. Students serve within our dynamic senior care setting, enhancing learning through real-world clinical experience. We emphasize spiritual care across the aging continuum, from rehabilitation to memory care. Students covenant together to foster growth in self-awareness, ministry competence, and theological reflection.

Biographical Info
Located in Frederick, Maryland and established in 2010, our CPE center offers three levels of training:
Internship: 12 weeks or 16 weeks, 400 supervised hours
Residency: 12 months, 1,600+ supervised hours
Supervisory Education: 24 (maximum) months of advanced training
Areas of focus include hospital chaplaincy, hospice and palliative care, oncology, military, and community veterans’ ministry.
