Biographical Info
Students in the RWJBarnabas Health CPE program serve as intern chaplains at hospitals across the RWJBarnabas Health system, including RWJ Hamilton, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, and Trinitas Regional Medical Center, with additional placements available by arrangement. Weekly seminars are held online and occasionally in person. Through a theologically grounded action-reflection model, students develop pastoral counseling and spiritual care skills, strengthen their professional identity, and accompany people through life crises. Training addresses group dynamics, pastoral theology, grief, end-of-life care, bioethics, and other healthcare-related issues, preparing chaplains to serve compassionately in diverse clinical settings.
